A Look At My Sewing Room

This room used to be the basement "Living Room," at least that was the title. It was more like the place my husband and I would throw our "unwanted's" or when company was coming and I wanted to get rid of things fast, clutter, and also since it is next to the laundry room, unfolded/ forgotten about clean laundry. I'm just being honest.  Then one day my husband was all, "hey sweetheart, lovely woman, beauty, you should turn this into your sewing room. You deserve a place of your own."
(Thats what I heard in my head when he suggested the idea)
So I got rid of/sold some of the furniture thats olny job was to hold the stacks of crap that accumulated in this room and turned it into a place of my own. It was even my husbands idea to paint.
I really am kind of doubting his selflessness all of a sudden while I type. Im starting to think he just wanted his dinning room back and was tired of eating lint with his meals. :)
Whatever his reasoning I have this beauty now and its made our house flow so much more smoothly.
We even noticed this year that there seemed to be less spiders in the basement and concluded that it was because the basement has had more traffic.

Enough talk heres the Sewing Room

I love this table. It used to be a table in a high school way back when. I love all the markings in it even my daughters initials happened to be in it. It was meant to be. I did however slap the paint on rather sloppily.

Did I mention that every bit of this room was either salvaged, Thrifted, or things we already had!
All I had to buy was interior paint and some good ol spray paint.

Heres a couple of shots of whats happened in this room so far.

My daughter "sewing" while I sew...

made a feminine slip out of an old sheet and some pretty ribbon. Took maybe 15 minutes

Heres the slip under a skirt I made out of a Walmart clearance dress

A sneak peak of a quilt I am working on! more to come soon

I made two of these makeup pouches for Christmas gifts with things I already had on hand.
They can be used simply as brush holders or makeup pouches for travel.
I used upholstery fabric for the lining to make it stiff.
They took me 15 min a piece! No lie. Scouts Honor
I very loosely used this tute.

My very straight lines :)

Heres the backs of the two pouches, you can see the two different fabrics I used.
The left one's cover was made of some really pretty vintage sheets and the tie was an ivory colored ribbon.

I Dream of Baby

The title of this post is the exact name of a "secret" board I constantly pin to on pinterest. I do exactly that...constantly. My one and only child is closer to 3 then she is to 2 and the beautiful urge/longing/obsession/crazy to make a human being that has 1/2 my genetic code has set in...more like bit down and wont let go. Honestly it hit when my daughter was around 13-16 months :) and I don't think it was a coincidence that she (chose) to stop nursing around that time. Well since I'm obsessing I thought I might as well make it useful since I wont be having a baby in the near-near future....

Tablecloth Skirt

I made this little number out of the prettiest thrifted table cloth ever. It was a fairly simple upcycle because of how easy/simple "Dana Made It's" Circle Skirt Tutorial. To make this skirt just head on over

Happy Sewing!
